A street artist who calls himself Plastic Jesus has composed a life-size gold sculpture of the 39-year-old rapper recreating the crucifixion of Jesus. On February 22, the Los Angeles-based artist erected the sculpture called “False Idol” at Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue in West Hollywood. The sculpture features nails in each of Kanye’s hands. Also included are a pair of Yeezys from West’s popular collaboration with Adidas. Nigeria loses $2.9 billion annually to corporate tax waivers, the ActionAid Nigeria (AAN) has said. The country director of AAN, Ms. Ojobo Ode Atuluku, who disclosed this yesterday in Abuja, said Ghana and Senegal also lose $2.7 and $0.2bn respectively annually to tax waivers bring the loss of the three countries to $5.8bn annually. She was speaking at the West African Summit on Tax Treaties organised by ActionAid themed, ‘A Common Treaty Protocol: Cutting the Giveaways’. Mrs Atuluku also stated that Nigeria lost over $3.3bn in 10 years to tax incentives under the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Act. Nigeria wants to borrow at least $1 billion from the World Bank and to sign within months for a $1.3 billion loan from China to fund railway projects, Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun said on Tuesday. The executive directors of the International Monetary Fund have adopted a proposal to promote Islamic Banking (IB) due to its popularity in the global financial system. The board, at the end of its first formal discussion on IB, adopted a set of proposals on the role the fund should play in this area. The proposals, according to the bank, and the case for adopting them, are contained in the staff paper titled “Ensuring Financial Stability in Countries with Islamic Banking” and the accompanying country case studies paper. A Ghanaian migrant who was facing deportation from Malta took his own life on Saturday after he was forced to "feel like a criminal" by a new immigration policy in that country. The Times of Malta   reports that, Frederick Ofosu, 33, was found strangled with an electric cable in a Qawra building site on Saturday night. He left a recorded message for friends explaining his despair, saying he was being forced to feel like a criminal when he had done no wrong, according to Ahmed Bugri, director for the Foundation for Shelter and Support for Migrants. Dr Bugri who identified the victim together with a Ghanaian embassy official, said the government's decision to review the so-called THPn system had forced him to the edge. However, the Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela said the victim had applied for assisted voluntary return scheme to return to Ghana last September. A report on, “ JAMB Admitted Candidates by State and Gender within Faculty’’, released by NBS in Abuja on Monday said that 2,674,485 students were admitted across the 36 states and the FCT between 2010 and 2015. “In 2010, a total of 1,513,940 applications were received while 423,531 students were admitted. “This shows that 28 per cent of students who applied for admission were admitted across the 36 states and the FCT in the year under review. “Adamawa and Niger States admitted 38 per cent of students who applied for admission in 2010. “Both states received 14,483 and 16,556 applications while 5,678 and 6,278 students were admitted, respectively,’’ it stated.
