Dangote’s Worth Drops By 32%Nigerian born Africa’s richest man, Mr Aliko Dangote, has lost 32% of his wealth. Bloomberg reports that the president of the Dangote Group, lost 4.9 billion dollars in June, representing one-third of his wealth. The decline resulted from the effect of falling oil prices and the devaluation of the naira, dragging the magnate’s ranking to 112 on world’s billionaires’ list. With a total value of 10.4 billion dollars, Mr Dangote was the world’s 46th-richest person as at June 2016. Aliko Dangote was also recently named as the second most powerful person on the African continent. A fleeing member of the Boko Haram sect has been arrested by officials of a security agency recently established by the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC Marshal. According to a statement issued by AMAC Marshal Spokesman, Kingsley Madaki, Usman, was apprehended at exactly 4:30 pm at Utako market shortly after he arrived the premises. Madaki disclosed that the suspect was apprehended “with a Qur’an and a chaplet on his neck while trying to lobby people in the market.” The statement said he “confessed that there are many of his colleagues in the city.” The agency, therefore, appealed to residents of AMAC and the FCT to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement to AMAC Marshal personnel and other security agencies.

Springfield Township, Ohio, police said a man called 911 wanting a ride home. Authorities at first thought he was possibly wanted for murder from what he told the dispatcher. A truck belonging to Dangote Group Plc, reportedly crushed Mr. Mukhtar Abdulkarim, a Second Republic Senator, to death. Abdulkarim, alongside his brother and driver were traveling between Kano and Zamfara states on Friday when the truck rammed into his car, killing him instantly. His brother, Mr. Buhari Abdulkarim, an architect, and his driver were injured in the accident. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), former military president, has restated his belief in the ability of President Muhammadu Buhari to crush Boko Haram. A top member of the Boko Haram sect has been arrested in the Ikorodu area of Lagos state on Saturday. This was revealed by Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff. Buratai said this during the reopening of two major roads in the state. The roads – Maiduguri-Gubio-Damasak and Maiduguri-Monguno-Baga – were closed during the height of the activities of the insurgents in 2013. He charged his men to arrest fleeing members of the sect. “You must maintain the momentum of the operation. We must pursue the terrorists wherever they are. A man in Katsina State named Auwal Sani, has reportedly died in just a day after his wedding. The story about his death was revealed by aFacebook user named Ajetunmobi Ridwan Olawale, supposedly a friend to the deceased. According to Olawale, the deceased passed away on December 25, 2016. The Police in Katsina have arrested one Kamal Bala Yunusa, 23, alongside his accomplice, Muhammed Abubakar Sadiq, for allegedly kidnapping his 3-year-old nephew in Tundun Wada area of Kaduna State. In an  interview with reporters while parading the suspects, the State Police Spokesperson, Salisu Agaisa, said the child was rescued from a hotel in Katsina after an intelligent tip-off. He added that the baby had been drugged with “a cough mixture,” but was rushed to a hospital and revived at about 3 am on Friday. A newborn girl was, on Saturday, found floating in a well at Gwallameji, the students’ village of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, the Bauchi State capital. This is the second incidence in less than one week. A dog was found by passers-by feasting on a new born baby abandoned at a refuse dump last Sunday in the same area. The baby girl found inside the well on Saturday afternoon was believed to have been dumped a day before she was discovered. An eyewitness, who gave his name as Elkamcy, told Punch that the odour from the decomposing body of the baby attracted residents. “On my way to my shop, I saw many people gathered by an abandoned well in the area.
