IBRAHIMOVIC: I’m ready to face Guardiola’s Man City

Zlatan Ibrahimovic says matches likes Saturday’s eagerly-awaited clash are the type of occasions that "trigger" emotions in players and, as a veteran of derby games across the world, he is more than ready for his first taste of Manchester United versus City. The 34-year-old has played in a host of local match-ups and he kicked off the derby banter earlier this week with a tongue-in-cheek Instagram post aimed at new Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo. Ibrahimovic joked he was yet to have a reply from the Blues new boy as he looked ahead to the weekend’s match at Old Trafford in an exclusive interview with MUTV to be shown on Countdown To Kick-Off on Friday. "For me, the big games are the ones that trigger you. They’re the games everyone speaks about," he explained. "I have played in many derby games, I’ve played in the El Clasico, the Inter/Milan derby, Ajax and Feyenoord which was the big one there [in Holland] and PSG/Marseille. &quo

Trump criticizes U.S. policy on Russian television

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump criticized U.S. policy in Iraq again, but this time he aired his grievances on an unusual platform: a Russian government-funded television network. Trump, who has often praised Russian President Vladimir Putin, made the comments in an interview with former CNN broadcaster Larry King, whose podcast was aired on Thursday night on the RT network, a 24-hour news channel that broadcasts in both English and Russian. Critics of the network, which mostly targets audiences outside of Russia and also includes programing in Spanish, Hindi and Arabic, have described it as a propaganda arm of Putin's government. Traditionally, American presidential candidates do not bash their country before a foreign audience, even if they are fierce critics of the current administration while campaigning in the United States. Trump has said far worse about President Barack Obama in appearances on U.S. television networks. The White House said

Lady Gaga wrote her new single, Perfect Illusion, on a typewriter

Pop star Lady Gaga has revealed she wrote the lyrics for her new single, Perfect Illusion, on a typewriter. The singer unveiled the song on Radio 1's Breakfast Show, explaining how it was composed with producer Mark Ronson and Tame Impala's Kevin Parker. "Kevin flew to us from Australia and he came with this idea, that was the beginning of a song called Illusion," she told Nick Grimshaw. "I work on a typewriter and we would bounce new lyrics back and forth." She added: "We stripped everything away. Changed the melody, shifted it. I sat at piano, Kevin was on guitar, Mark was on the bass." Gaga has previously posted several images of her vintage Underwood portable typewriter online, but this is the first time she has confirmed it forms part of her writing process. She said the lyrics of Perfect Illusion turned into a commentary on social media, and the risks of presenting an idealised version of yourself. "I b

Fury over Facebook 'Napalm girl' censorship

Facebook has controversially removed the iconic image of a girl fleeing a Napalm attack during the Vietnam war from a post, on the grounds of nudity . The editor of Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten said the entire post, which was about iconic war imagery, was later deleted and the account of the reporter behind it suspended. Espen Egil Hansen has accused Mark Zuckerberg of "an abuse of power". Facebook said it has to restrict nudity for cultural reasons. Mr Hansen said the image of Kim Phuc, then aged nine, was removed less than 24 hours after the newspaper received a request from the firm to either take down the image or pixelate it and before it had responded. "While we recognise that this photo is iconic, it's difficult to create a distinction between allowing a photograph of a nude child in one instance and not others," Facebook said in a statement. "We try to find the right balance between enabling people to express themselv

Barack Obama chides 'wacky' Trump after Putin jibe

Barack Obama has chided Donald Trump as "wacky" and "uninformed" after the Republican candidate said Russia's President Putin was a better leader. Speaking in Laos, Mr Obama said that every time Mr Trump spoke it became clearer that the Republican contender was not qualified to be president. In a televised forum on Wednesday, Mr Trump had praised Mr Putin's "great control" and 82% approval rating. Mr Trump and rival Hillary Clinton had taken questions from military veterans. Mr Obama said: "I don't think the guy's qualified to be president of the United States and every time he speaks, that opinion is confirmed." The president pointed to the diplomatic work he had faced at both the Asean summit in Laos and the earlier G20 meeting in China. He said: "I can tell you from the interactions I have had over the last eight or nine days with foreign leaders that this is serious business. "You a

Dan-lawan katsina: Stop politicizing agriculture.

Owner of the DanLawal farm and chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in Katsina Local Government, Alhaji Hamisu Gambo, who spoke on behalf of farmers in Katsina LGA, cautioned the state government from politicising agriculture by deliberately neglecting the real farmers to appease political allies. “A situation, where real farmers are being neglected in the area of loan and farm input accessibility by the state government is dangerous. “They only recognise politicians following them as farmers, whereas real farmers have no access to basic farm inputs not to talk of loan, it is unfortunate. “We call on the federal government to assist real farmers in the state since the politicians have hijacked what the farmers could get from the state government. This is necessary to safe agriculture in Katsina State,’’he said. Alhaji Gambo, a former member of the House of Representatives, commended the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government
