Buhari’s absence not comparable with late Yar’Adua’s

An Associate Professor of Political Science, Dr. Emmanue lOjo has said there is no basis for comparing the crises which preceded the death of late President Umar Yar’Adua in 2010 with what is playing out with the vacation of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said the two instances are entirely different and contrary to the thinking of many Nigerians, there is no vacuum currently in government with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo acting as the President.
In an interview with DailyTrust, Ojo who is also the Chief of Staff to Governor Abiola Ajimobi of OyoS tate, noted that the crises generated by Buhari’s vacation in London were actually masterminded by his handlers who give out conflicting information.
Having handed over to Osinbajo as required by the constitution, there should have been no need for the current rumours, speculations and the controversy generated by Buhari’s absence.
Ojo is also of the belief that Nigerians’ impatience is also fueling the controversy over the state of the President.
Buhari was scheduled to arrive from London, United Kingdom where he had travelled for vacation but the President extended his leave to enable him get results of series of medical tests he underwent in UK hospital, according to the Presidency, But his continued stay in UK has been generating controversies in the polity.
Ojo  said, “Nigerians are impatient. Mr. President said he was going on his annual leave for 10 days and during the period; he would go for medical check-up so that if anybody should see him in the hospital in London and he did not tell us that he would do medical check-up, there won’t be any issue.
“For Mr. President to have transferred power constitutionally and legally to the Vice-President, Buhari is not missing inaction. In fact we did not even need him in any action because he is already on leave and he has transferred power to Osinbajo”.

He said comparing Buhari with late Yar’Adua does not arise at all even as he declared Buhari as being healthy by all standards having gone through the rigour of election campaign and occupying Aso Rock where he is confrontedwith humongous responsibilities.

Arsenal’s Wenger concerned by Chinese spending power

Arsene Wenger fears the huge wages being offered by big-spending Chinese clubs could cause problems when the Premier League teams look to negotiate new contracts with their star players.  Wenger is currently locked in talks with Arsenal duo Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez as the pair reportedly seek parity with the best-paid players in the Premier League. The Arsenal manager is hoping for successful resolutions to those contract stand-offs, but he believes the money on offer in the China Super League may persuade the Premier League’s star names to ask for even bigger pay packets to stay in England. Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been linked with a move to China, with an offer of £600,000-per-week ($739,000) reportedly on the table for the Spain international. Two of his former Chelsea team-mates, Oscar and John Obi Mikel, have already moved to Super League outfits, while former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez became the highest-earning player in the world when h...
