Kanye West Breaks Social Media Silence to Explain His Meeting With Donald Trump

Kanye Westand Donald Trumpdiscussed more than just “life” Tuesday morning.

The “Ultralight Beam” rapper took to Twitter for the first time in a month and a half to offer more insight into what actually went down inside Trump Tower.

“I wanted to meet with Trump today to discuss multicultural issues,” Kanye wrote online, shortly after following up, “These issues included bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago.”

West’s return to Twitter didn’t stop there, though. He went on to write, “I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change.”

Shortly before admitting himself into the hospital, West went on a lengthy, politically-charged rant during one of his Saint Pablo tour stops in late November. While onstage, Kanye made it clear that his own presidential aspirations haven’t diminished in the wake of this year’s election cycle.

“I’m concerned about putting our concept of how to do the [president’s] job in a new way and if no one will do it in that way, I will take position in 2020 and do it myself,” he told the crowd.

Now it appears as if West is putting his candidacy on hold for four more years, as he concluded the series of tweets with “#2024.”
After their brief meeting, West and Trump convened in the Trump Tower lobby to answer questions from the press. When asked about potential cabinet positions, Trump only recalled the pair’s personal relationship: “We’ve been friends for a long time. We discussed life.”
